WeBe3Three extraordinary Bay Area vocalists join forces for an evening of stunning vocal fireworks. Rhiannon, Joey Blake, and David Worm are all original members of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and have sung with the award-winning a capella ensemble SoVoSo. Their album, WeBe3, Live and Improvised, is “an amazing live recording,” says the website singers.com, “at once funny, joyous, unexpected, liberating and delightful.” The Los Angeles Times has praised the group for “expanding the vision of what the human voice is capable of, individually and collectively,” and the East Bay Express has praised them for taking “that journey of collective exploration into the spiritual unknown that is normally the domain of jazz instrumentalists.”

Rhiannon, who sings lead melodies, grew up on a farm in South Dakota, went to New York to study theater, and earned an MFA from Cornell University. She has released five albums on her own RhiannonMusic label, and has collaborated with such artists as Ruth Zaporah, Brenda Wey, and the dance company ODC. She is also a master teacher with a deep interest in the connection between music and healing.

Joey, who provides the rich bass lines, is not only a singer but also a producer, recording engineer, composer, dancer, and choir director, as well as an accomplished instrumentalist on piano, guitar, bass, and percussion. He has produced five albums for SoVoSo and recorded with Kenny Loggins and Mickey Hart. He has served on the faculty of both the Jazzschool in Berkeley and the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

David, who creates the percussion effects, has more than fifty recording credits as a session singer, vocal percussionist, and composer. He has scored or co-written works for such artists as Tandy Beal, Robert Moses’ Kin, Oberlin Dance, and June Watanabe. He has taught improvisational singing and vocal production in Europe and America, including at the Omega Institute in New York and the Esalen Institute in Big Sur.
