Kids Jams at the Freight

This month, our youth bluegrass jam with the California Bluegrass Association will be held in conjunction with the Berkeley Old Time Music Convention Spring Situation! The Quale Family along with Dana Frankel, John Gooding, Jake Gooding, Larry Cohea, and Butch Waller will be there to lead the jam. This session is a great an opportunity for young players and singers to meet up and work on their craft and the fine art of jamming, as well as be involved in the Berkeley Old Time Music Convention! Fiddles, mandolins, guitars, banjos, dobros, and basses are welcome.
For a list of possible songs, please contact
cbayouthprogram@gmail.com. Adult supervision will be provided by California Bluegrass Association volunteers.

Freighter Tots: Folk singing with kids ages 18 months to 6 years
In this song circle, we’ll sing, dance to, and act out folk songs about things kids care about: things like animals, nature, vehicles, their bodies, family, friends and being silly. Little children can start to understand tempo and rhythm using toy instruments; parents and other caretakers can learn songs to sing and games to play with their children. Make music part of their lives! Music builds community.
