Over the past three decades, The Tannahill Weavers have gained worldwide fame as one of Scotland's premier traditional bands. Born at a session in the early 1970s in Paisley, Scotland and named for the town's historic weaving industry and local poet laureate, Robert Tannahill, the group quickly made a name for themselves with their driving arrangements, rich three- and four-part vocal harmonies, and fiery instrumentals. Offering a potent mixture of the old and the new, they blend the beauty of ancient melodies and the power of modern rhythms, with the penetrating sound of the Highland bagpipes a thread of memory running through it all.

The Tannahill Weavers' current lineup, featuring original members Roy Gullane (guitar, vocals) and Phil Smillie (flute, bodhran) along with John Martin (fiddle), and Colin Melville (bagpipes), released the album Live & in Session (Compass) in 2007.
