Freight favorites Robin Flower and Libby McLaren wed exquisite Irish poetry with their modern "Celtic americana" style in an evening of exhilarating instrumentals, tight vocal harmonies, creative energy, and loads of fun. Robin's agile fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, and Libby's high-energy grooves on piano and accordion (and great vocals from both of them) are backed tonight by a red-hot band featuring bassist Jan Martinelli and percussionist Peter Maund. Guest artists include The T Sisters, Barbara Higbie and others.

Provocative songwriters, powerful singers, and dazzling instrumentalists, Robin and Libby redefine the boundaries of contemporary folk music with their fusion of original songs and musical traditions from distant corners of the world. Tonight, they honor the startling beauty of Irish poetry from the 1800's to the present, especially works by some of Ireland's finest women poets. With the added modern perspective of Robin and Libby's original lyrics, their music jumps back and forth across the Atlantic, from traditional Irish fiddle/accordion tunes and Irish poetry-based songs to original, Celtic, swing, and old time-influenced music. Add to all this Libby's innovative Celtic scat singing and you are in for an evening not to be missed!
