Born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, the heartland of good old rockin' blues, Paul Thorn's journey has been anything but dull. He performed at the age of three while traveling with his evangelist preacher father, has jumped out of airplanes, battled four-time world champion boxer Roberto Durán on national television, worked in a furniture factory by day and played out his musical passions by night.

Legendary manager Miles Copeland discovered Paul performing at a Tupelo pizza joint. Soon after, Paul was opening for Sting and subsequently toured with other heavy-hitters including Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Robert Cray, Marianne Faithfull, and John Prine. Everywhere he performs, he draws an immediate, enthusiastic response from fans wanting to get a piece of Paul's gutsy music for themselves.

Difficult to categorize, Paul has a muscular rock-blues style with an undercurrent of gospel that grabs you and doesn't let go. His 2010 CD Pimps and Preachers is all about personal history and offers up some sharp observations and witty gems in songs like "Weeds in My Roses" and "Tequila is Good for the Heart." Paul, backed up by Bill Hinds (slide guitar), Michael Graham (keyboard), Jeffrey Perkins (drums), and Ralph Friedrichsen (bass), brings his high-energy, live-wire performance to the Freight for an evening of jaw-dropping stories and honest, heart-on-the-sleeve music.
