Pacific CurlsThe Pacific Curls are based in New Zealand, but their music spans the globe, from the intoxicating rhythms of the South Pacific to the plaintive fiddling of the Scottish highlands. Here’s how New Zealand music critic Mike Nettman describes the trio: “Pacific Curls – what can I say but wow wow wow! Here are three incredibly gifted women who together create the most beautiful, sensitive, emotive, inspiring, and unique music. Exotic rhythms, Celtic fiddle, Te Reo [the language of the Maori people], brilliant compositions, fabulous vocals, exceptional musicianship, and personality plus make Pacific Curls world class!” The trio played at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and has made appearances around the world.

Kim Halliday, Ora Barlow, and Jessica Hindin play a Celtic-Maori-Rotuman mix, with guitar, ukulele, fiddle, cajon, stomp box, kalimba, and Taonga Pūoro, the traditional instruments of the Maori. They’ve recorded six albums since 2006, including their latest, Te Po, an eclectic and progressive blend of world roots music that dips into several diverse traditions to create a sound that’s entirely new. You may not understand all the words, but the music will speak directly to your heart!
