High CountryJoin traditional favorites High Country and Dix Bruce & Jim Nunally as the Freight welcomes the New Year with our annual bluegrass gala, featuring hot pickin’, a fabulous buffet, and silly hats – plus sparkling beverages at the stroke of midnight!

High Country has been playing bona fide bluegrass for more than 40 years now, continuing in the vibrant tradition of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, and Flatt & Scruggs.  praised their pungent harmonies and Bluegrass Unlimited has called them “one of the lonesomest, hard-drivingest traditional bluegrass bands alive.” Led by Butch Waller on mandolin, the band also features Larry Cohea on banjo, bassist Glenn Dauphin, fiddler Tom Bekeny, Bob Waller on guitar, and Jim Mintun on dobro. These masters of bluegrass deliver driving rhythms, deft picking, and soulful singing with a vital mix of powerful originals and outstanding standards, from blues to breakdowns to gospel tunes sung in close harmony.

Dix Bruce and Jim NunallyDix Bruce and Jim Nunally, “sound like the Everly Brothers…with a lot more nitty gritty,” according to Flatpicking Guitar magazine. The duo’s performances are a trademark mixture of humor, soulful singing, close harmony, and hot guitar playing. They’ve released four albums of historic songs, traditional Americana, folk, and country.
