The Bay Area’s Molly Tuttle is a bluegrass wonder. She began performing on stage when she was 11, and recorded her first album, The Old Apple Tree, at age 13. Since then, she’s appeared on A Prairie Home Companion and at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, earned honors as Best Guitarist and Best Female Vocalist from the Northern California Bluegrass Association, won first place in the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Competition at Merlefest, and, last May, graduated from the Berklee College of Music, which she attended on a Hazel Dickens Memorial Scholarship. Her lovely voice, impeccable guitar playing, and sensitive song writing make her a star on the rise. She has already received more than two million YouTube views, and she recently released two exciting EPs with friends from Berklee, The Goodbye Girls and Molly Tuttle & John Mailander.

Joining Molly tonight will be that same John Mailander, a wizard on fiddle and mandolin, who has a new album, Walking Distance, that features Molly. Wes Corbett will play banjo. Wes happens to be an associate professor at Berklee and is also a member of the terrific band Joy Kills Sorrow. A mystery guest will play bass. This all-star aggregation of talented young musicians should put on a spectacular show!

The Lonely Heartstring Band is an acoustic quintet from Boston inspired by bluegrass and the music of the Beatles. In fact, the Boston Bluegrass Union declares, “this is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they had been a bluegrass band.” The quintet features George Clements on guitar, Patrick M'Gonigle on fiddle, Matt Witler on mandolin, Gabe Hirshfeld on banjo, and Charles Clements on bass. They got together at the Berklee College of Music, started playing all around New England, and last year released a self-titled EP.
