Roots rocker Jimmy LaFave writes gritty, open-hearted songs of optimistic faith, elusive women, and the call of the road and delivers them with a weathered, wonderfully expressive voice full of passion and uncommon beauty (he is also famous for his excellent interpretations of others' work, especially Bob Dylan).

Born in Texas, Jimmy spent his teen years in Stillwater, Oklahoma, defining his sound there among songwriters from the "red dirt music" tradition of Woody Guthrie. After moving to Austin in the mid-1980s, he rapidly became a fixture in the local singer-songwriter scene, recording six glowingly reviewed albums, and winning the Austin Music Awards' Best Singer-Songwriter for two years running. His latest is the aptly titled Favorite's, a compilation CD of sixteen of Jimmy's most requested songs. Jimmy is joined tonight by Glenn Scheutz on bass, Radaslov Lorkovic on piano and accordion, drummer Bobby Kallus drums and Rich on guitar and Dobro.
