Southern singer-songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist, Jesse Winchester weaves gospel, folk, blues, and country threads into graceful, intelligent music that reflects his origins in Louisiana, rural Mississippi, and Memphis. The author of classic songs like "Brand-New Tennessee Waltz" and "Yankee Lady," Jesse is famous for well-crafted tunes about small moments of deep feeling and mysteries of the spirit, which have been covered by the likes of Elvis Costello, Jimmy Buffett, Joan Baez, and Emmylou Harris (to name but a few). His 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Composers, Artists and Publishers (ASCAP) is one gauge of the music world's esteem.

In concert and on albums like Defying Gravity and his recent Love Filling Station (Appleseed), Jesse interprets his own vivid small town vignettes, heartfelt love songs, and wistful love-lost narratives with soulful vocals and a masterful, low-key style.
