Join acclaimed violinist, singer, and composer Jenny Scheinman as she breaks the mold with this special show designed for Berkeley, featuring three duos: an instrumental duo with pianist extraordinaire Myra Melford highlighting music from Crossing the Field, Jenny's 5th CD, a singing duo with Chicago-based guitarist Robbie Gjersoe featuring original songs from Scheinman's critically acclaimed debut vocal release, and a special duo set with Canadian folk singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn with whom Scheinman has been collaborating over the past several years.

Jenny, internationally recognized for her distinct violin work alongside Grammy Award-winning artists such as Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, and Bill Frisell combines on her self-titled vocal debut CD, original, autobiographical alt-country contemporary folk compositions with renditions of folk, country, and blues-tinged selections by the likes of Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Tom Waits, and Mississippi John Hurt. She reveals a uniquely haunting voice within the storied tradition of strong, plainspoken female country singers who bring reality and unadorned honesty to hard-won songs of love and life.

Jenny Scheinman is a singer, violin player, composer and arranger. She grew up playing folk music with her family, went on to study at Oberlin Conservatory, and has been performing as a violinist/fiddler since she was a teenager. She has taken the #1 Rising Star Violinist title in the Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll and has been listed as one of their Top Ten Overall Violinists for the last five years.
