This will be a combination of my grooving and jamming the blues classes. We will work through blues rhythms as well as blues soloing. We will play in a few different keys. Rhythm patterns using spread rhythms, walking bass lines, 7th and 9th chord voicings, syncopation and accents. Soloing based on creating phrases with pentatonic scales and chord shapes. You should have at least a little experience playing blues rhythms.

Pete Madsen is a teacher, writer, guitarist and performer based in Berkeley, California. He has written numerous lessons for Acoustic Guitar and Play Guitar magazines; and is the author of FretMaster: Slide Guitar and the Fretmaster: Funk Book, both published by Backbeat books; as well as A Guide to Acoustic Blues Guitar and the soon to be published The CAGED System for Guitar.
