A follow-up to Introduction to Walking Bass, this class advances the concepts of using arpeggios, scale runs, and leading tones to create bass lines that are at once harmonically supportive and also creatively melodic on their own. These concepts are essential whether you’re playing country, folk, Hawaiian, honky tonk, traditional swing, Western swing, gypsy jazz, modern jazz, or any style that uses a walking bass line. We’ll discuss appropriate theory, and be prepared for lots of in-class playing.

Prerequisite: If you have taken Introduction to Walking Bass or feel comfortable playing 1-3-5 arpeggios in several keys, you are ready for this class, which is open to all bass instruments: upright, guitar bass, electric bass, and ukulele bass.

Is this class right for you? Feel free to contact the instructor at chuck.ervin@att.net.
