In this workshop, Peter discusses the idea of finding one's own musical language. He demonstrates composing for acoustic guitar and how to work out ideas in a personal way, and explaining compositions and different guitar techniques in two different tunings (EBEGAD and DAEGAD). The workshop also covers methods to make a piece more interesting through expression, dynamics, tone, and ornamention, developing techniques to make the music more enjoyable and give a piece the final polish. Finally, a variety of different daily exercises in different tunings will be covered, focusing on techniques like single line playing for fingerstyle guitarists, improving right and left hand dexterity and coordination, and methods maintain concentration while practicing.

Born in Weimar in 1954 to a conductor father, Peter has played guitar since age 13. Since the 1970s, he has enjoyed an outstanding reputation internationally as an acoustic guitarist, with numerous tours throughout Europe, North America, Japan, and Russia; he has also participated in numerous television and radio productions and composed for symphony orchestra, film, and television, as well as establishing his own music pubishing company and the Acoustic Music records label. As a player, composer, producer, and teacher, Peter combines a profound knowledge of music history and the contemporary state of the art.
