A soulful storyteller, Eliza Gilkyson blends her folk roots with a pop-influenced passion for compelling melodies and a penchant for writing intelligent, deeply personal lyrics.

As a teen growing up in Los Angeles, Eliza recorded demos for her dad, songwriter Terry Gilkyson ("Memories Are Made of This," which Dean Martin took to #1 on the charts, and "Bare Necessities" from Disney's The Jungle Book), and started writing and recording her own material as well. Leaving California to define her own path, she spent time in New Mexico and Europe before moving to Austin, which she has called home for more than two decades.

A strong streak of social and political consciousness runs through Eliza's work, where piercing imagery is couched in gorgeous melodies memorable enough to win her a Grammy nomination in the Contemporary Folk category for her 2004 CD, Land of Milk and Honey, as well as a place in the Austin Music Hall of Fame.

Tonight Eliza showcases powerful new tunes from her very freshly released Roses at the End of Time (Redhouse), an album which expands her considerable repertoire of socio-political commentary. She will be joined by Nina Gerber, guitarist extraordinaire.
