ROSE AGUILAR is the host of the KALW program “Your Call.” In 2005, Rose took a six-month road trip through the so-called “red states” to find out why people vote the way they do (or not) and what issues they care about. She wrote a book about her experience called Red Highways: A Journey into the Heartland.

LARRY BENSKY has been a political journalist and teacher for more than 50 years. He covered electoral politics for KPFA/Pacifica from 1972 to 1997, was the political writer for the East Bay Express for 15 years and, since 1992, has taught political science at Cal State East Bay.
