Easy Bass: Classic Country and Honky Tonk w/ Chuck Ervin
Wednesdays, 7:00-8:15 pm, beginning September 14 Learn the basics of bass theory and technique while you learn country and honky tonk classics from the likes of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Kitty Wells, and other masters of the backwoods and barrooms. You’ll be playing along within the first 15 minutes, even if you haven’t touched a bass before. This class is open to all bass instruments: upright, guitar bass, electric bass, and ukulele bass.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
He has worked with many other Bay Area musicians, including Bobby Black, Joe Craven, Ed Johnson, Jinx Jones, Keith Little, Tony Marcus, Jim Nunally, Jeff Sanford, Julian Smedley, and Radim Zenkl. He has also performed as an actor and musician in numerous stage productions, including “Woody Guthrie’s American Song” at the Freight & Salvage.
He studied jazz bass with Glenn Richman, bassist for famed vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, and teaches bass at the Freight & Salvage, at music camps, and at his Oakland studio. Visit www.basschuck.com for more information. |
