Guitarist Charles Wheal started his own band after a decade with harmonica player Mark Hummel and the Blues Survivors, and playing with blues greats including Charlie Mussel- white and James Cotton. With instinct, passion, tasteful phrasing, and foot-stompin' talent, his mix of Chicago, Texas, and West Coast blues gets crowds on their feet.

San Francisco band Tip of the Top's freshly imagined, infectious vintage 1950s "juke joint" blues, will have you movin' and groovin' from the very first notes. Veteran blues musican Frank De Rose (bass) formed the band with newcomers Aki Kumar on harmonica and vocals and Carlos Velasco on percussion. Tip of the Top are joined tonight by guitarist Kit Anderson, alumni of the Charlies Musselwhite band, on a break from his tour with Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. Tip of the Top's debut CD is Depot Street Blues.

Quinn DeVeaux and the Blue Beat Review create an alchemy of New Orleans soul, early blues, and the contagious funky rhythms that make you want to dance all night. Chicago-bred songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Quinn appears with Kenan Obrien (upright bass), Matty Mack (drums), Chris Seibert (piano), and three soul-stirring backup vocalists, Nicole Rodriguez, Amber Gougis, and Viola Viola.
