Wildly imaginative troubadour Dan Bern, returns to ignite the Freight stage with material shifting from political satire to love ballads to Beatles impres- sions. The New York Times articulated his "genre" with the hyphen-fest "topi-cal-political-poetical-sarcastic-punk-folk," while Dan himself sings, "If you must put me in a box, make sure it's a big box, with lots of windows." His great free-form poetic lyrics and the power of his raging tenor generate laughter and controversy and devoted fans of his live shows, as he veers from theology to baseball, delivered with ". . . drop-dead gorgeous melodies like a demon with his tail on fire" (Washington Post).

The Iowa native-now living in California-whose most recent album is Live in New York, also composes for film, including Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Get Him to the Greek with actor Russell Brand.

Tonight Dan appears with his collaborators of the past two years, Los Angeles-based folk/power-pop/indie trio Common Rotation. The group, Adam Busch, Eric Kufs, and Jordan Katz, is currently at work on a studio album of Dan's songs.
