ViolaMANIA

Classical at the Freight brings the Bay Area's best classical musicians to the Freight for an hour of top-flight chamber music in an informal, friendly atmosphere. San Francisco Chamber Orchestra music director Benjamin Simon is your host; his goal is to un-stuffify and de-mystify classical music for the general music lover, sharing the joys and rewards of this timeless art with new audiences young and old.

The first ViolaMANIA was a rousing success. Don’t miss ViolaMANIA 2.0 – and if you’re a violist, bring your axe for two reasons: 1. get a dollar off admission and 2. play along – as the Bay Area’s top professional violists come together for an evening of alto clef, viola jokes, and our second attempt to break the Guinness world record (Telemann Viola Concerto) for the biggest viola ensemble ever! There will even be some pre-concert Viola Fair in the lobby at 5:30, including impromptu viola ensemble reading sessions, raffle prizes and silent auction items on display, vendor tables filled with local and not-so-local merchandise, and who knows what else.

Join us for Classical at the Freight and enjoy stimulating music, beautifully played. Presented in collaboration with the Northern California Viola Society.
