Chuck Brodsky, who developed his compassionate songwriting, groove-oriented guitar playing, soulful vocals, and dry social commentary while living in Berkeley and performing on the Freight stage in the 1980s, returns with a new album, Tell Tale Heart, which Lonesome Highway praises for its “keenly observant eye,” “wicked sense of humor,” and “superbly crafted songs that champion the struggles of everyman.”

Chuck has already made the Baseball Hall of Fame, with 11 of his original songs enshrined in the Sound Recording Library. Chuck and baseball make a great fit because the game is full of stories and Chuck is a storyteller at heart. “What tales this singer-songwriter from Philadelphia has,” says the New York Times. “With insight and good humor, he has taken these life experiences and distilled them into old fashioned story songs brimming with wit and compassion.” Larry Groce, host of NPR’s Mountain Stage, calls Chuck “one of the finest singer-songwriters in America. There are a lot of good ones, but when it comes to the really great ones, it boils down to a select few – he’s one of them.” For memorable stories, wonderful songs, and expressive guitar playing, catch Chuck at the Freight!
