Join us tonight for a concert with banjoists Moira Smiley, Evie Ladin with Evil Diane, and Erin Inglish celebrating the release of the Banjo Babes 2015 Calendar & Album. The calendar project is a lighthearted tribute to some seriously talented musicians, and the show will feature gorgeous singing and masterful banjo playing!

Moira Smiley is a singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who not only leads her own group, moira smiley & VOCO, but also tours with Solas, tUnE-yArDs, The Lomax Project, and Laura Nyro Re-Imagined. She grew up in rural Vermont, studied music at Indiana University, toured Eastern Europe with the a cappella quartet VIDA, moved to the Bay Area and joined Kitka, and then branched out to pursue a multitude of different projects and passions.

Tenacious, innovative string musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-trad soul, Evil Diane throws down soulful folk songs with an unusual live show. The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin's clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Known as a driving force behind San Francisco's Stairwell Sisters, Evie grew up in an East Coast traditional music scene, but has always lived in urban centers - which all informs her songwriting, praised for making people laugh and cry. Keith Terry is a renowned percussionist/rhythm dancer, and the founder of the International Body Music Festival. A pioneer in contemporary Body Music, Keith produces large-scale intercultural collaborations and educational outreach. Keith brings a cinematic ear to playing bass as tonal percussion, with bells, box, body and toys. Erik Pearson is a musician's musician with the Crooked Jades, storyteller Diane Ferlatte, and his solo projects. His original banjo tune "Fork & File" was the soundtrack for a rapids rafting scene in Sean Penn's movie Into the Wild.

After Erin Inglish released her debut solo album, A Melody So Sweet, she went on a West Coast tour, playing gigs from Portland to San Luis Obispo – and traveled the whole way on her bicycle! The project played to her strengths, promoting environmental consciousness, social justice, and artistic expression. She studied Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley and roots music with such esteemed local talents as Avram Siegel, Bill Evans, Jody Stecher, and Laurie Lewis. Erin is the organizer behind the Banjo Babes Calendar & Album.
