Singer-songwriter and winner of the prestigious New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Vermont native Anais Mitchell performs distinctive, meticulously written songs, backed by the Young Man Band. With the sound of a world-weary waif, Anais' otherworldly voice is a powerful counterpoint to the intensity of her vibrant, literate songs. Revolving around contemporary events, the songs are filled with personal and political themes, worldly metaphors and intense emotions, clever twists and plainspoken poetry.

Tonight's show features a wide range of tunes, showcasing selections from Anais' fourth CD, Young Man in America, and numbers from her 2010 folk opera, Hadestown, a retelling of the Orpheus myth set in Depression-era America.
