Award-winning storyteller and songwriter Willy Claflin presents a mini-festival of song and story: from ancient ballads to ghost town blues, from tales of the Kraken to intergalactic poetry slams, with many unexpected stops along the way. His performances, says the Boston Phoenix, “reflect an astute ear for the incongruous and a blithe love of the absurd. This an irreverent folkie who kicks the stuffing out of museum pieces.” Willy began performing in Boston folk clubs, including the legendary Club 47 in Harvard Square, in the late 1960s. When he moved to Maine in the 1970s, a truck drove through his living room and he met a talking moose. No wonder he added storytelling to his repertoire.
 
Willy moved to San Francisco in 1984 and has spent the past 31 years travelling across the country, singing songs and telling stories. His album, Bones of Love, was featured as a Recommended Release in Billboard Magazine, and his 14th album is set for release in December. He’s a regular at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and has frequently appeared at the Bay Area Storytelling Festival, the Sierra Storytelling Festival, and dozens of other festivals across the country. His guests today will include guitarist extraordinaire Rick Higgs, storyteller Mary Gay Ducey, and the 2015 Ruminant of the Year (whose name has been withheld to thwart the paparazzi).
