Tom RhodesBy the time Tom Rhodes was 16, he was a full-time musician playing up and down the East Coast. After stints in Brooklyn and North Carolina where he dove into country and folk music before landing in Oakland. Tonight he releases his newest album, Who You Were, another collection of originals featuring his soulful raspy voice and infectious lyrics. The San Francisco Bay Guardian says his last album, With Or Without, feels, “Like you’ve been snuck into something secret and awesome.” We couldn’t agree more. Let yourself in on the secret and catch Tom Rhodes at the Freight.

Maria Quiles & Rory CloudQuiles & Cloud – that’s Maria Quiles and Rory Cloud – started playing together on the sidewalks of San Francisco in the fall of 2011 and something quickly clicked. “It was perfect timing for both of us,” Rory says. “We really connected on so many levels,” Maria says. The proof is in the music – intricately interwoven voices and guitars on haunting originals and well-chosen covers like Tom Waits’s “Come on Up to the House.” They released Long Time Coming in 2012, Seminole Star in 2014, the same year they won the FreshGrass award for Best Duo, and now they’re celebrating the release of a brand new album, Beyond the Rain, produced in Nashville by Grammy winner Alison Brown. Joining them tonight will be longtime collaborator Oscar Westesson on bass. Their musical chemistry is marvelous, and together they dig deep into love and longing, risking it all for the perfect moment, the feeling that endures.
