"I like to view the big mountain of music from every angle," says Tim O'Brien, the West Virginia multi-instrumentalist and songcrafter who has spent the past few decades building a fascinating bridge between the traditional sounds of the hill country and its many roots and branches, including modern bluegrass. His ongoing commitment to place himself in as many unique and challenging musical scenarios as possible makes him a key figure in today's thriving roots music scene-and well beyond it. His credits include co-founding acclaimed band Hot Rize, innovative collaborations with Steve Martin, the Chieftains, and recently, performing before capacity crowds in Mark Knopfler's band. Mark describes Tim as "a master of American folk music, Irish music, Scottish music-it doesn't matter, a fine songwriter and one of my favorite singers."

Tim is famed for his great song-writing, pitch-perfect voice, and penning tunes recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Dierks Bentley, Nickel Creek, Kathy Mattea. Tim's thirteenth solo CD is the 2010 Chicken & Egg (Howdy Skies), following up his Grammy Award winning Fiddler's Green (Sugar Hill).
