Maybe you caught his goosebump-inducing opening set for Chris Smither, or his solo show last spring; if so, you know that a Tim Eriksen performance is not to be missed. Specializing in stark, emotionally charged vocals that underscore the depth and power of the songs, Tim performs a hypnotic combination of ancient New England murder ballads, hair-raising shape-note harmonies, old-time Appalachian favorites, and originals from CD projects including his recent solo effort, Northern Roots Live in Namest (Indies Scope 2009).

Tim first came to attention on the American music scene as a member of the Massachusetts folk-punk band Cordelia's Dad and for his extensive contributions to the Oscar-winning film Cold Mountain. Critics have hailed Tim as "the best traditional American ballad singer of his generation" and for having "one of the most hair-raising voices in American music." His collaboration with world-jazz pianist Omar Sosa Across the Divide (Half Note 2009) has just been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category. Tonight, Tim performs solo, accompanying himself on fiddle, banjo, guitar and bajo sexto bass.
