Tannahill WeaversThe Tannahill Weavers, one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands since their founding in Paisley, Scotland in the 1970s, take their name from a local hero, Robert Tannahill, known as the Weaver Poet, whose songs and poems, like those of his contemporary, Robert Burns, comprise an essential part of the Scottish folk tradition. The band is known worldwide for instrumental prowess and rich vocal harmonies. Offering a potent mix of the old and the new, they weave the beauty of traditional melodies with the power of modern rhythms. The penetrating sound of the Highland bagpipes ties everything together, like a thread of ancient memory.

The band features founding member Roy Gullane on guitar and lead vocals, founding member Phil Smillie on flute and bodhran, John Martin on fiddle, and Colin Melville on bagpipes. Let the Tannahill Weavers take you on a tour of Scotland’s diverse musical heritage, from the Celtic highlands to the Anglo-Scots lowlands, performing songs that go from rollicking to poignant, with a touch of the mystical.
