Tonight's show is a benefit for Students Rock Foundation which provides scholarships for students to participate in the performing arts.

Bay Area-based Mo'Fone serves up some of the funkiest jazz around with inventive high-energy original compositions and a huge sound that belies the compact instrumentation of 2 saxes and drums.  Featured at the 2010 Monterey Jazz Festival and voted "Best Jazz Group" in the East Bay Express Readers' Poll, Mo'Fone includes Jeremy Steinkoler (drums), sax-man Jim Peterson (Steve Lucky and the Rumba Bums, Motordude Zydeco), and composer/saxophonist Larry de la Cruz, who has worked with Lou Rawls, the Temptations, The Four Tops, and more.

Check out for yourself the band that Jazzweekly.com says, "Snaps and crackles like James Brown's Famous Flames mixed with a New Orleans second line."

Berkeley-based Kevin Beadles unites classic rock with the back porch drawl of gospel, blues, and alternative country. The Kevin Beadles Band features Kevin on vocals and acoustic guitar, joined by John Foster (electric guitar, vocals), Steve Gibson (bass), and Jeremy Steinkoler on drums. Singer-songwriter Steve Seskin says Kevin "writes hooky songs about real life and delivers them with a passionate, soulful voice."

Portland-based singer/songwriter Marie Schumacher, who directs PDX Vox (a community a cappella singing program for adults and teens), opens the show with material from her CD Sometimes at Night.  Tonight she shares her acoustic pop songs backed by Steve Gibson on electric guitar, Jon Arkin on drums, and Jeff Rolka on backing vocals.
