Grand National Fiddle Champions Tristan and Tashina Clarridge host an evening that is all about the strings: fiddles, guitars, mandolins, hammer dulcimer, bouzouki , and a surprise guest or two. The musical thoroughbreds taking the stage tonight, like the instruments they play, are high strung and tightly wound- born to play and leave mere mortals in the dust.

The Bee EatersThere's Darol Anger, the elder statesman of the crew, who has taught some of the young'ns in the lineup a thing or two. Exceptional among modern fiddlers for his versatility and depth, Darol helped drive the evolution of the contemporary string band through his involvement with the Republic Of Strings, the Turtle Island String Quartet, the David Grisman Quintet, Montreux, the Duo, and other ensembles. He has mentored more than a few of the rising stars in the nu-folk, bluegrass movement, including Brittany Haas. Brittany, a five-string fiddle wizard with a passion for Appalachian mountain music, is a member of the defiantly non-traditional bluegrass quintet Crooked Still. Roger Tallroth, a magician on guitar, bouzouki, and octave mandolin adds rich, textured rhythms and melodic leads to the distinctive sound of the Swedish band Väsen. Jeremy Kittel, another young fiddler phenom, has Ireland and Scotland coursing through his veins-and fingers. He performs with his own band and is the newest member of the Grammy Award-winning Turtle Island Quartet. The Bee Eaters round out this exceptional lineup. Brother-sister duo Tristan and Tashina, long known and lauded by those steeped in the American fiddle tradition, are joined by hammer dulcimer virtuoso Simon Chrisman and masterful mandolinist Dominick Leslie. With all this talent concentrated on a single stage prepare your ears for an explosion of just plain great music.
