Mandolin master and songwriter Steve Smith and Minnesota songbird Chris Sanders front this super-talented group of musicians that originally came together to work on Steve's live studio recording Hard Road, released in 2004. The band's chemistry is evident in their excellent rapport onstage, and in the song-writing and harmonies that have become the signature Hard Road sound.

In addition to Steve and Chris, Hard Road brings together Bill Evans on 5-string banjo, bassist Bill Amatneek, and national champion fiddler Megan Lynch. Bill E. adds his now legendary style and drive to the group while Bill A. anchors the groove. And the icing on the cake: the stunning gifts of a true fiddle star, Megan Lynch!

Tonight, the group performs music from their sizzling new CD, Signs Along the Road, lauded on radio show Acousticity, WGLT as "...the best work yet from Smith, Sanders and Hard Road....singers whose individual vocal gifts are periodically transformed into choruses of alchemical harmony".

Megan will be teaching a workshop—So What Does the Fiddle Do In A Jam Again—at the Freight on Wednesday, July 7, 7:00 - 8:30 pm.
