The Show Ponies are an indie-folk band with old time and bluegrass tendencies. They “embody all the raw energy and enthusiasm inherent in the genre, fortified with on-target lyrics and a refreshingly modern sensibility,” says PopMatters. Folk Alley praises their “bouncy, fervent energy that’s starting to make waves.” It’s true about the energy. When you hear their music, you want to jump up and join the fun. With Andi Carder on lead vocals and banjo, Clayton Chaney on lead vocals and bass, Phil Glenn on fiddle, and Kevin Brown on percussion, the Show Ponies know how to strut their stuff.

The band has released two albums, Here We Are! in 2012 and We’re Not Lost in 2013, and last year they collaborated with Noam Pikelny of Punch Brothers on an EP, Run for Your Life. They’ve opened for Rascal Flatts and spent a lot of time touring. “We’re not lost / We just don’t know where to go,” they sing, but somehow they keep winding up in the right place, and tonight that place is the Freight!
