Sepideh RaissadatGifted vocalist and setarist Sepideh Raissadat brings to life a repertoire of poetry-filled Persian classical music during her Freight debut. Tehran-born Sepideh has always been free to pursue her love of music, but as a woman living in Iran, was prohibited from sharing it with others.  In 1999, Raissadat became the first female singer in Iran after the revolution to sing in a duet when she performed with the late Persian Santoor master and composer, Parviz Meshtakian.

Sepideh began studying Radif (the repertoire of the Persian classical music) at the age of 9 with Parissa, one of Iran's most esteemed female classical musicians, and continued with Parviz Meshkatian and Mohammad Reza Lotfi. Sepideh was only eighteen when she released her first album with Parviz Meshtakian. Most recently, Sepideh joined the Ensemble Moshtaq's European concert tour in support of their 2010 album 14 Cheerful Pieces. An academic as well as a perfomer, Sepidah graduated with a degree in Ethnomusicology from the University of Bologna, Italy and continues her research in Canada, most recently focusing on Sassanid music from Persian music's golden age. While in Italy, she performed for the Vatican, on Italian TV and with well known Italian musicians Franco Battiato and Andrea Parodi.

A joint production of Butterfly Buzz & Bamahang Productions With a special thanks to Nazy Kaviani
