Rita Hosking & Cousin JackRita Hosking writes and sings classic country-folk originals. Her songs sound like they’ve been around for a while – and deserve to stay around for a lot longer! Rita grew up in Northern California – in a haunted house on Hatchet Mountain, according to a story she told NPR’s Weekend Edition – and now lives in Davis. “She's been called the best kept secret in country-folk,” says the British newspaper the Daily Mirror, “and her razor-sharp songs and great live performances bear out the claim.” Acoustic Magazine praises her “timeless, unhurried elegance.” She’s released an album every two years since 2005, including her fifth and latest, Come Sunrise, which Maverick Magazine describes as a “heartfelt country soul set by someone who’s quietly become one of the best.” Rita's band includes Rita on guitar and vocals, Sean Feder on dobro and banjo, and Bill Dakin on the upright bass. Rita’s daughter Kora Feder has been known to sit in as well. Together, they create what the website No Depression calls “authentic American folk music to stir the soul.”

Cahalen Morrison and Eli WestCahalen Morrison and Eli West play new, original music that captures the essence of the old time country sound. Cahalen comes from the high desert of northern New Mexico; Eli is based in Seattle. Together, these two young musicians deliver exquisite harmonies and great musicianship on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bouzouki. According to Tim O’Brien, “Cahalen and Eli are making music that the world needs.” When they played on BBC Radio 2, the host called their performance “quite extraordinary.” The website No Depression raved about their first album, Our Lady of the Tall Trees, calling it “essential listening” and “a standout album from a pair who astonish and exhilarate.” Now they have a brand new album, I’ll Swing My Hammer With Both My Hands, lauded on Folk Alley for “embodying the traditional music that is at the foundation of so much of the millennial folk boom.”
