Earl devoted time and energy to enterprises like San Francisco Mime Troupe, the Pickle Family Circus, Ten Speed Press, the California Jug Band Association, and The Well. A pioneer in computer programming, he developed innovative software to turn text into speech and to enhance computer security. Always ready with his camera, he took countless photographs of musicians, circus performers, weightlifters, dancers, and whatever caught his eye! His curiosity, passion, and empathy spread to the people around him. “Likable and good humored, Earl was a truly kind man who always chose helpful rather than harsh words.
