Join us on Saturday, September 9th at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley for the first ever Raz Kennedy show, an evening of stunning vocal performance and world class musicianship.The Raz Kennedy Show is an evocative artistic exploration of freedom, empowerment, and love. This exclusive solo performance will serve as a beautiful celebration of Raz Kennedy’s musical journey and pay tribute to the artists and collaborators, who inspired him along the way. Conjuring a mosaic of iconic music, Raz Kennedy will interpret repertoire from the songbooks of John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Rick James, AC/DC, Curtis Mayfield, and many others. In honor of this rare appearance, Raz will be joined by an all-star musical ensemble featuring Victoria Theodore on piano/keyboards (Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder), Kai Eckhardt on bass (John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham), Dave Tweedie on drums (Fishbone, Primus), Matthew Charles Heulitt on guitar (Sting, Sammy Hagar), and Sandy Griffith (Celine Dion, Diana Ross) and Leah Tysse (Michael Franti, Ashford & Simpson) as background vocalists. BIO In the realms of vocal performance and singing instruction, Raz Kennedy has created a legacy for over 40 years that rivals the music industry’s finest. Acknowledged as “the premiere vocal coach in the Bay Area” by Narada Michael Walden (multi-platinum Grammy and Emmy winning producer and musician), Raz Kennedy is a veteran music educator, producer, and vocalist devoted to the pursuit of excellence. His eclectic performance credits include serving as a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and performing as a background vocalist on recordings for many legendary artists, including Whitney Houston and Al Jarreau, as well as on stage for Sting, Santana, and Mickey Hart.
