Rajeev TaranathRajeev Taranath is an internationally acclaimed performer and one of the world's leading exponent of the sarod, the richly textured Indian lute. A distinguished disciple of Maestro Ali Akbar Khan, his performances masterfully combine the depth and rigor of the tradition of Hindustani classical music with an inspired imagination and emotional intensity. He is respected for the clarity of musical understanding which he brings to the unfolding of a raga and the beauty of the tone he evokes from the sarod. The New York Times described his music by commenting about the exuberance and versatility of his playing, which ranged from the spiritual to the spirited. Currently living in Mysore, India, Taranath travels worldwide both teaching and performing.

Jonathan Scott Lee, Professor of Philosophy, Colorado College writes, “As someone who has had the honor of hosting Rajeev Taranath in concert several times, I cannot express how fortunate we are to be able hear this living master perform. Rajeev Taranath is not only one of the world's top exponents of classical Indian music, he is also an artist who is constantly searching, refining and always doggedly pursuing excellence. He unfolds layers of the raga with an expertise that show us how inspiration and depth of experience come together. This is a beautiful example for all of us, at any age."
