“Love is the answer,” John Lennon famously sang, and after the devastating fires in Lake County, that community – and the firefighters who doused the flames – could use a little love, not to mention financial help, to move on to better days. Tonight at the Freight, three fine bands contribute their efforts to the cause! The charming Daniel Swan will be the guest MC, and the magnificent Voena Children's choir will welcome folks at the door with songs of the season.

The world never had the opportunity to see a full-length concert of John Lennon performing songs from his entire solo catalogue. Plastic Fauxno Band respectfully and entertainingly brings that concert to the stage. The band features a wealth of great musicians – Drew Harrison, as the voice of John Lennon, Tiran Porter on bass and vocals, Hardy Hemphill on keys, Chris Solberg on lead guitar, keys, and vocals, Bobby Strickland on sax, flute, and vocals, Donn Spindt on drums and vocals, Mike Shiplet on percussion, and Bob Lewis on guitar – former or current members of such groups as The Doobie Brothers, Shania Twain, Kenny Loggins, Elton John, Santana, Grateful Dead, Todd Rundgren, The Rubinoos, The RaveUps, White Album Ensemble, and The Sun Kings. “The show is unbelievable,” says the San Francisco Chronicle. “Extraordinary and amazing,” says the Liverpool Echo.

“The Sun Kings are superb!” says rock critic Ben Fong-Torres. “As close to the Beatles live, and in studio, as possible!” The band features Drew Harrison on guitar, percussion, and John’s vocals, James Funk on bass and Paul’s vocals, Bruce Coe on guitar and George’s vocals, Steve Scarpelli on drums and Ringo’s vocals, and Ruben Salis on keyboard, guitar, orchestration, and vocals. “We wanted Sir Paul McCartney,” the British Consulate in San Francisco told the band, “but you would be our next choice!”

Get your groove on for a trip back in time with The RaveUps. For this benefit show, The RaveUps are changing things up for the fun of it. They will be doing a variety of classic British and American rock, guaranteed to rock the house!

Featuring Chris Solberg on keys, Donn Spindt on drums, Kit Newkirk on bass, Bob Lewis on guitar, and guest Johnny Gunn covering the lead vocal slot. Also sitting in will be guest Lily Dawson on guitar and Dave Bailey on harmonica.
