Phil MarshBruce BartholDig out your party hats and celebrate the Freight's anniversary with a rousing evening of music hosted by Phil Marsh, our 1968 inaugural performer. Since that fateful opening day Phil's many musical incarnations include stints with the Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle Band, the Pickle Family Circus, and the San Francisco Mime Geoff HoyleTroupe, as well as frequent appearances with his old pal Bill Kirchen on both coasts.

For tonight's celebration Phil has assembled another stellar cast of musical friends for a little bit of everything, from traditional and original folk, blues, and Skiffle to the rocking soulful dancing music of the re-reunited Gary SalzmanEnergy Crisis, with Bruce Barthol (original bass player for Country Joe and the Fish and award winning SF Mime Troup music director and composer) and Tom Ralston (described by Phil as an East Bay drumming institution and the best garbage-can Skiffle player in the world.) The evening will feature songs by Phil and Phil Greenberg, (remember Phil & Phil at the Jabberwock?), legendary clown Geoff Hoyle and his pet fiddle, and Gary Salzman, authentic folk composer, guitarist, and Cheeseboard member extraordinaire.

Come join the fun and help the Freight celebrate more than four decades of community-supported world-class music.
