Patty LarkinPatty Larkin is a remarkable guitarist and compelling singer, an insightful songwriter and hilarious storyteller, a shrewd producer and evidently a pretty good friend, judging from the friends who volunteered to help her out on her latest album, 25, a collection of 25 of Patty’s love songs, celebrating 25 years of recording, and performed with 25 friends, including Greg Brown, Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplansky, and Dar Williams. The website allmusic.com calls the songs “exceptional,” praising the singing and guitar playing “rooted in old-school folk traditions and the grit of the acoustic blues.”

Born in Iowa and raised in Milwaukee, Patty majored in English at the University of Oregon and moved to Boston to study jazz guitar at the Berklee College of Music, where she now holds an honorary Ph.D. She launched her career in the late 1980s, busking on street corners and playing in coffee houses. Since then she’s released a dozen solo albums and produced La Guitarra, a compilation of great guitar-playing women from around the world. For an evening of outstanding songs artfully performed, catch Patty at the Freight.
