Margaret BeltonMargaret Belton and a band of outstanding Bay Area musicians pay tribute to the incomparable Patsy Cline, who immortalized songs like “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “She’s Got You,” Sweet Dreams,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight.” She recently wrapped her 3rd round of the critically acclaimed ‘Always… Patsy Cline’  at the Alterana Playhouse in Alameda California right after getting back from doing a run in New Orleans at the Stage Door Canteen.  The summer of 2015 she starred in 'Always... Patsy Cline' at The Altarena Playhouse for which she received a Bay Area Theatre Award for Best Female Actor in a Musical for her portrayal of Patsy Cline. The role came natural to her at a young age when she was given her bonus mother's record player and her case of 45s. "The first record I put on was 'Walking After Midnight' and I was in heaven,” she says. “As an awkward adolescent, I felt something just suddenly click that felt new and magical yet so naturally familiar." In 2010, Margaret started her own Patsy Cline tribute band, the Patsychords. She knows the woman and her music intimately, and she knows how to bring her songs to life. The New Orleans Times-Picayune, in a review of a recent performance, praised Margaret for “striking precisely the right vocal balance” and bringing “both a powerful voice and presence to the stage.”

Her band features Freight favorite Maurice Tani on guitar, David Phillips on pedal steel, Mike Anderson on bass, Henry Salvia on piano, Roberta Drake on drums, and vocalist Kathleen Salvia on harmonies. Maurice has been a fixture on the local alt-country scene for more than a decade with his band 77 El Deora. The San Francisco Chronicle has praised his “twangy modern country sound” and called his songs “wry yet romantic, tender but aggressive.” David has worked with such artists as Tom Waits, Peter Rowan, Charlie Hunter, Johnny Paycheck, and the San Francisco Symphony. He was also the musical director for 'Always...Patsy Cline' in 2015. Mike plays in 77 El Deora and recently collaborated with Maurice on an excellent acoustic album, Two Stroke. Roberta played drums with Margaret in the award-winning production of Always…Patsy Cline in 2015 and 2016. She is also part of the Tom Shaw Trio and can be found all over the Bay Area on stages playing with various plays and with the trio in various jazz clubs and piano bars. Henry has played with the Johnny Nocturne Band, Bo Diddley, Rickie Lee Jones, and Big Jay McNeeley, and currently plays with Houston Jones. Kathleen Salvia began signing classic country music at the Redeye Saloon, a gay cowboy bar in the SF Tenderloin. Marc Bristol of Blue Suede News says, "This woman has a major set of pipes and writes some fine material." She currently works with husband Henry in The Flying Salvias, an alt-everything piano-vocal duo performing songs they wrote and songs they wish they had written. They can be heard regularly at the San Gregario General Store.

Catch this tribute to one of the greatest country singers of all time, performed by a group of terrific musicians imbued with the spirit of Patsy Cline!
