Orla Fallon“I have been privileged in the places that music has brought me,” says Órla Fallon.

Given the places she’s been these past years, it would be difficult to disagree. His Holiness the Pope, American Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and Irish President Mary McAleese, have all been a part of Órla’s audiences, both as a solo artist and with the phenomenally successful group Celtic Woman.

With her first solo album debuting in the Billboard World Music Top 10, as well as the success of her PBS specials, Orla’s haunting, deeply moving renditions of traditional Irish airs have endeared this singer/harpist to millions.

Tonight Órla sings (in English and Gaelic) and plays, as she presents favorites like “The Water Is Wide,” “She Moved Thro’ the Fair,” and “Down by the Sally Gardens,” as well as traditional Irish songs such as “Aliliu Na Gamhna,” and “The Gartan Mother’s Lullaby.” Órla is ably backed by Dan Shea (Keyboards, Bass), Amberly Rosen (Fiddle, Vocals) and Tin Cup Gypsy: Jordan Lawson (Mandolin, Fiddle, Bass, Vocals),Cassandra Lawson (Whistle, Concertina, Percussion, Vocals), Jonathan Lawson (Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle), and Tyler Oban (Drums, Percussion).

Born in the village of Knockananna, in Co. Wicklow, Ireland, Órla credits her late grandmother for “instilling an abiding love of Irish music and traditional culture . . . I never imagined in a million years, that I would have been seen on Public Television over 14,000 times, have been a part of group that has sold more than 4 million CDs and DVDs and now as a new solo artist, being on stage with the likes of The Dubliners, and recorded with Grammy Award winners Vince Gill and Moya Brennan—all within the same year. Wow!”
