OMG! It’s OMGG! Obviously Minor Guys & a Girl unites four talented young musicians who came up together through the Bluegrass Program of the California Bluegrass Association. They play bluegrass old and new, along with some other tunes that cannot be legally classified. And they’re big talents. AJ Lee, for instance, has already been the subject of a Mother Jones article titled “Could This Kid Be the Next Allison Krauss?” She plays ukulele, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and guitar, but what really sets her apart is her voice, rich, lovely, and full of mature feeling. Max Schwartz has played string bass with Laurie Lewis. His brother Nate plays mandolin, and Marty Varner plays guitar. Catch a glimpse of the future of bluegrass tonight at the Freight!

35 Years of Trouble features four outstanding young musicians ranging in age from 11 to 15 who have grown up playing together at local bluegrass festivals. Tessa Schwartz, from Berkeley, sings and plays fiddle. From Vacaville, Jake Gooding plays bass, and his brother John sings and plays guitar and mandolin. Helen Lude, from San Francisco, sings and plays mandolin and fiddle. They’ve just recorded an album that should be released soon, and they sound great!
