Join world famous dancer Miriam Peretz, and acclaimed musicians Rachel Valfer Sills, Dan Cantrell, Tobias Roberson, and Eliyahu Sills for a tribute to the lives of Sephardic women throughout the ages. In expressive North African and Balkan Ladino song and dance, they showcase different aspects of a woman’s life, woven together with traditional and modern music and ethno-contemporary dance. The program explores the women’s oral song tradition as it evolves over time from past to present, shedding light on the experience of womanhood in the old cultures of the Sephardic diaspora to the present day. The interpretive, theatrical, and traditional dances add a deepened experience of emotion as the words of the songs come to life through the expressions, gestures and movements of the dances.
