Sierra Hull is a mega-talented singer and mandolinist who first took the Grand Ole Opry stage when she was 11, signed with Rounder Records when she was 13, earned a Presidential Scholarship to Berklee College of Music, and now, at 24, is releasing her third album, Weighted Mind, featuring contributions from Ethan Jodziewicz, Abigail Washburn, and Rhiannon Giddens, and produced by 15-time Grammy winner Bela Fleck. “She plays the mandolin with a degree of refined elegance and freedom that few have achieved,” Bela says, “and now her vocals and songwriting have matured to the level of her virtuosity.” The New York Times calls her “a prodigious talent,” the Bluegrass Situation calls her “a mandolin-playing wonder,” and her friend and mentor Alison Krauss says, “Sierra is a remarkably talented, beautiful human being. Success could not come to a more worthy person.” Her voice is crystalline, her mandolin playing is exquisite, and her original songs have a depth that suggests a wealth of experience beyond her years. She’s already played Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the White House, not to mention A Prairie Home Companion, and now she’s coming to the Freight. Don’t miss this phenomenal young artist on the rise!
