Linsey Aitken & Ken CampbellScotland’s Linsey Aitken & Ken Campbell combine their distinctive musical talents to play a wide range of Scottish traditional and contemporary music as well as their own well-crafted originals. Linsey is a classically trained cellist and pianist who studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and became a founding member of Erne Parkin’s Cross Border Band. Ken is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who cofounded The Ideal Band in the 1980s. The pair has a new album, Kith and Kin, released earlier this year. Folk Roots calls their work “a welcome showcase of extraordinary varied talents, strong yet sensitive singing, collected gems from old sources, and a canny ear for current songs from Scotland.”

The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers is a volunteer-run organization formed in 1986 under the nonprofit sponsorship of the Scottish Fiddlers of California. Members meet each month to learn and play traditional Scottish fiddle music, united by a strong sense of community and a common delight in sharing the music they love. The group draws its repertoire from the rich and enduring Scottish musical tradition, learning contemporary tunes as well as those that have been passed down from the Highlands and Western Isles, the northeast of Scotland, and Shetland. Many tunes also come from the great Scottish fiddling tradition that flourishes in Cape Breton Island off the northeast coast of Canada.
