Unparalleled interpreter of americana music since long before that genre even had a name, Maria Muldaur has spent over four decades unleashing her soulful vocals on a dizzying range of songs. From her early days in the Jim Kweskin Jug Band through her deep explorations of New Orleans jazz, Western swing, gospel, country blues, and more, Maria's sultry voice has brought back into the spotlight some of the finest roots music around.

The recipient of three Grammy nominations and numerous other awards, Maria has released an array of acclaimed albums, recently returning to her roots with Maria Muldaur & Her Gardon of Joy, a CD which finds her reuniting with several of her former jug band mates to regale listeners with tunes from the classic jug band era of the early 1930's, as well as hilarious newly penned gems by Dan Hicks.

As great as her albums are, however, Maria's live performances are simply not to be missed: part infectious fun, part down-home revival, and part deeply satisfying antidote to contemporary mass media culture. Spotlighting tunes from her recent CD, Maria is joined this evening by the Garden of Joy Jug Band, featuring the funky, syncopatin' guitar work of Kit Stovepipe, and the multi-talented Gallus Brothers, Devin Champlin & Lucas Hicks from the Crow Quill Night Owls on multiple acoustic instruments—mandolins, fiddles, banjos, jugs, tubs, kazoos, harmonicas—you name it! Last but not least, laying down that solid jug band groove will be Kurt Jensen on the bass and washtub.
