Laurie Lewis has won the International Bluegrass Music Association award for Female Vocalist of the Year multiple times, garnered a Grammy for True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe, and recorded more than 20 albums – with the Good Ol’ Persons, Grant Street, Kathy Kallick, and Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands, as well as several solo projects. “Creatively ambitious and utterly unpretentious, steeped in tradition but doggedly progressive,” says critic Andrew Gilbert, Laurie “is a gifted fiddler, deft guitarist, inspired songwriter, and powerfully evocative singer.”

An internationally known and award-winning picker, singer/songwriter and teacher, the Midwest native relocated from Denver to the vibrant Portland, Oregon music scene in in 2004. She continues to please crowds and critics at folk festivals and concert stages domestically and abroad, ones that include Merlefest, Kerrville, King Biscuit, Prairie Home Companion and the Calgary Folk Festival, among many.

Flower’s 10 recordings, including her last four for Memphis’ famed Yellow Dog Records — Bywater Dance, Instrumental Breakdown, Bridges and Misery Loves Company — show a deep command of and love for folk and blues string music. Suzy Thompson will be showcasing her own music including powerhouse blues vocals and guitar, old-time solo fiddle pieces, Cajun music with the diatonic accordion, and originals. In recent years, Suzy has worked a lot as a side musician, backing up such stellar performers as Jim Kweskin, Dave Alvin, Geoff Muldaur and Del Rey. She also keeps busy as the director of two music festivals (Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend, and the Berkeley Old Time Music Convention).
