Troubadours from the mountains of New York and the beaches of California converge on our stage in this acoustic soul double bill featuring Karen Savoca with Pete Heitzman, and Steve Meckfessel & Keith Greeninger.

Born in New Jersey, daughter to a big-band singer, Karen moved to a mountain top in upstate New York at 13 where her poetic nature thrived and her life as a musical "farmer" began. Said Bob McKillop of Mainfolkmusic.com, "Karen Savoca lives her life down in the dirt. . . . Her songs and her music are her seeds, and her rich, supple, creative vocal style is her hoe." Greg Brown, with whom she collaborated on several albums said of Karen, "If she were a Native American, her name would be Sings Like Two Birds."

Karen and her partner Pete deliver what Dirty Linen calls, "An addictive blend of hybrid pop with lots of jazz whimsy and slippery funk," with Pete contributing his transcendent guitar to their signature sound. Karen & Pete, who's most recent albums is Promise, have appeared on The Today Show, A Prairie Home Companion, and many more.

Pull up a chair for an engaging, intimate "living room" experience as thoughtful singer-songwriters Steve and Keith explore material old and new (both are recording new albums), trading off songs, and backing each other. Steve regales us with his original new folk with a splash of jazz and pop, a definite groove, and thought-provoking lyrics. Santa Cruz based Keith (City Folk), paints intricate portraits of the human condition with powerful melodic images, deep engaging guitar rhythms and warm heart wrenching vocals.
