In honor of Women’s History Month, an all-star lineup of Bay Area musicians takes the stage at the Freight to celebrate women: the achievements, the challenges, and the continuing struggle for an equal voice in the music business and in all walks of life.
 
This year’s third annual show features Grammy winner Alexa Weber Morales; blues guitarist and vocalist Pat Wilder; the queen of San Francisco jazz and swing, Lavay Smith; 2012 Jazz Search finalist Tiffany Austin; the String Divas, featuring violinists Tarika Lewis, Sandra Poindexter, and India Cooke; the Lillian Armstrong Tribute Band, directed by Tammy Lynn Hall on piano, with Ruth Davies on bass, Ruth Price on drums, and Kristen Strom on saxophone; and a tribute to women who sing soul, with Oakland’s own Wanda Diamond, San Francisco native Darlene Coleman, and the producer of tonight’s show, Rhonda Benin.
